- Can my nearby friends and family visit me at the ranch? No. Due to strict insurance regulations, only registered guests can visit the property.
- Can I come and go as I like? Yes! Once you check-in, you can come and go as you please.
- Are any units handicap accessible? The barndominium is entirely ground floor with a no-step entrance, however, the barndominium does have a bathtub. We added an ADA grab bar to help with accessibility.
- The NO's to know are:
- Absolutely no smoking or vaping inside any of the rentals
- No smoking within 40 feet of the horse stable/ barndominium
- Unregistered guests, friends or family "dropping by" are not allowed as this is a private ranch
- No going inside animal enclosures
- Thank you for not opening gate latches, opening animal gates or climbing on or over
- Absolutely no drugs of any kind
- No inebriation, please enjoy alcohol responsibility
- Do all the rentals have A/C and heat? All our rentals have cold A/C and heat except the yurts which have a handy 3-speed fan.
- Can I add an extra person to the mini-cabins and yurts? No. The yurts and mini-cabins sleep two (2) guests only. However, you can also rent multiple units here (side by side) and bring your friends! Groups and families are also welcome to participate in this ranch experience!
- Is it noisy on the ranch? The ranch is extremely peaceful. You can expect to hear livestock sounds and typical lawn care.
- How close is the beach? Cowtown Cabins is only 2 turns away from the beach! 6 miles or about 10 minutes from North Ocean City, MD, and Fenwick Island, DE beaches.
- Do I need to bring anything? If you're glamping in our yurts, bring a cooler, an extra fan in peak summer months, blankets in colder months, and anything else you may need. If you're staying at the tiny house, opt to bring a crockpot, instantpot for cooking or just use our microwave. If staying during colder weather, also bring an extra blanket for each guest. The Swedish Cowboy barndominium, is fully stocked with everything and perfect for couples or a small family. For the mini-cabins, bring your bath, beach towels and disposable plates etc.
- Is there laundry on-site? Only the Swedish Cowboy barndominium has a laundry unit, however there is a laundromat close by.
- Do the yurts have a lock? No, yurts do not lock. Be sure to take your valuables with you when leaving the property and zip close all windows when leaving to avoid a pop-up summer rain storm and rain blowing inside while you're away. Keep in mind both outdoor yurt areas are monitored with by outdoor security cameras. We always know who is coming and going in this area.
- What about glamping in extreme weather? Shelley suggests all guests download the "WeatherBug" app to their cell phones. This particular app lets you know if extreme weather is coming, and how far away a storm is and gives you important updates like how close the lighting is. This app allows you to properly plan a beach day and gives campers and beach-goers a heads up to seek shelter if they have to. Keep in mind, that a car or building is always safer than a tent or open beach in extreme weather.
- Can I pet the animals? You can pet the welcoming committee of goats as the rest of the animals are kept inside latched enclosures that allow excellent viewing, but not touching due to safety reasons. Sign up for our most popular activity called "Chores N' Tour" with Shelley to feed, play games, and interact with the animals in this one-hour adventure.
- Are the yurts waterproof? Yes! The tents are made of canvas and are 100% waterproof. It only gets wet inside if you leave a screen window unzipped during rain.
- Are the yurts hot in the summer? During the day, the yurts are their hottest and in the evening and night they are coolest. Because these are tents, (and you're camping out) they are hotter than a rental that has AC. Shelley suggests arriving to your yurt in the afternoon/ evening as that's the coolest time of day. Having daytime activities is ideal and using the yurt as your base camp during the afternoon/ evening is best. While we provide a fan, Shelley suggests bringing an additional one. If you're the type that needs AC to have an enjoyable time, this may not be the best fit. Try our mini-cabins that have cold AC.
- Can I walk around the entire ranch? Our guests have access to the parking area, glampground, and corn hole area and two of our rentals have their own fenced-in yards with their very own barnyards. The rest of the farm is dedicated to animal pastures and guests are not allowed into those areas, but animals can be easily viewed while they're grazing.
- How secure is the property? To enter Cowtown, you'll need to be a guest with a code to the entrance gate. There is an on-site manager who also lives at the property. Security cameras are also used throughout the property.
- What are the checkout procedures? We have a 5-step checkout process and ask that our guests leave the rental the way they found it, (neat and tidy.) We love clean guests who leave our rentals well cared for. This also ensures you don't incur an "extra cleaning fee" that requires extra time from the cleaning team. You will see our checkout procedures inside each rental.
- Is the ranch easy to find? Yes! We are on Deer Run Road in Selbyville, Delaware and we have lighted signs out front so you know you've arrived.
